08/21/08 - Commercial & Residential Building Drill
Catskill Fire drilled at the old House of Video store on Central Ave used several different techniques. Members of the Department got a chance to try some firefighter survival, search and rescue and advancing hose line techniques. The building was donated to the Fire Department by the new owner before the scheduled demolition to make way for a new commercial building. The building consisted of a commercial setting of the ground level and a residential setting above. With the commercial part of the building members got a chance to search a large open building that most firefighters don't have a chance to deal with. Also, members had a chance to flow water with the Department's new Task Force Blitz ground monitor. This device will be a great piece of equipment added to the department's inventory. Pictures
